Join us for a special screening of Freshwaters Illustrated's feature film, "Hidden Rivers," to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts in Western North Carolina. This event not only showcases the unique beauty, diversity, and resilience of the Southern Appalachian region, but also aims to raise vital funds to support the massive environmental clean-up and restoration efforts that are needed in the months and years to come.
Hidden Rivers is a 1-hour film that explores the rivers and streams of the Southern Appalachian region, North America’s most biologically rich waters. The film follows the work of conservation biologists and explorers throughout the region - revealing both the beauty and vulnerability of this aquatic life - and how many people are finding ways to protect these ecosystems.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly toward providing essential resources to Western North Carolina via the Asheville-based non-profit MountainTrue. MountainTrue has been working non-stop since the storm to provide critical humanitarian and environmental services to the affected areas. Donations will go towards things like PPE, water quality testing, waste disposal, tree removal, and humanitarian support for river communities. Even if you can't attend in person, we highly encourage donating to their MountainStrong Hurricane Recovery Fund.
Freshwaters Illustrated is a non-profit media and outreach organization based in Corvallis, OR. The Freshwaters Illustrated Mission is raising public awareness about the life, study, and conservation of freshwater ecosystems through immersive visual media and storytelling, and sharing imagery and stories with educators, conservation groups, and community audiences.
