Project Hail Mary
<div><u>Review by Caitlin Stow</u></div><div>It's a rare movie that can feel like both an escape and a call to action. I walked into Project Hail Mary tired and worn down by like, and I walked out lighter, with a spring in my step, ready to engage with the world. On a technical level this movie does so many things right. The balance of CGI and practical effects is perfect, and the visuals are polished and mesmerizing. The writing is tight and clean, knowing exactly when to make us laugh without trying to fit in a joke a minute. Most importantly, the emotional beats are well earned. I believe his arc -- I feel it deep in my bones, and the depth of it has stuck with me as the central theme continues to float around my mind: where does bravery come from? While I do think there are way too many movies that center on "a dude and a cute little creature," this one actually makes it work really well. Their relationship is so endearing and built on a real foundation of hard-earned mutual respect. It's unfortunately uncommon to fine a movie that takes us out of the world while also bringing us closer to it. Sometimes we need to leave Earth to find the strength to face it. </div><div><br></div><div><u>Synopsis</u></div><div>Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there.
